Biography

With a diverse musical background, Nathaniel brings a unique blend of experiences to his work as a musician and conductor. With a passion for building communities based around music, he seeks to connect with audiences of any age and background by creating informative and inspirational musical encounters. He is currently the Associate Conductor of the Jacksonville Symphony and Music Director of the Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestras and was recently the AAF/Faber Young Conductor Fellow at the Salzburg Music Festival, selected by members of the Vienna Philharmonic. He was also a select participant in the Donatella Flick LSO Conducting Competition and Hong Kong International Conducting Competition, where he was a semi-finalist, and awarded the James Conlon Conductor Prize at the Aspen Music Festival.

Artistic Philosophy

Nathaniel believes in the transformative power of music. His motivation is centered around creating emotional connections through orchestral performances, evoking profound experiences that touch the hearts of both musicians and listeners.

Symphonic Landscapes

An educational concert geared toward Kindergarten–2nd graders featuring music by Beethoven, Verdi, Montgomery, and Smetana.

Passport Travels

A family concert designed to take the audience on a journey around the world. Featuring music by Brahms, Guarnieri, Tchaikovsky, and Nathaniel Dett.

A Young People's Concert geared toward 1st-3rd graders, featuring music by Stravinsky, Ravel, Gluck, and Copland.
 

Carnegie Hall Link Up

Familiar with Carnegie Hall's Link Up National Program that gives students the opportunity play with the orchestra in an interactive performance.
